Teacher Handbook:
Here I will describe what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. Well explained expectations avoid disappointment. Please take a few minutes to study this document and let us know if you have any questions.

Welcome to the team.
I am pleased that you have decided to join our team and thus our family. I am so privileged to be able to work in something I love, and I am extremely grateful to all that take part in this amazing journey. We are now colleagues, but the aim is to be friends working and growing together.
Charles
Flowing Body Values
  • We believe in treating everyone with respect. This includes not only clients but all associates: teachers, staff, business partners…
  • We believe in providing an unmatched experience. This combines teaching excellent classes and the commitment to making all clients feel special.
  • We believe in continuous improvement and never being satisfied with the status quo. We are always seeking to learn and to try new things.
  • Our bodies are our temples and should be treated as such. It is a privilege to be able to work with so many people to help them improve their lives. Joseph Pilates said that “Physical health is a prerequisite to happiness” and he was right!
The Flowing Body Pilates method
  • Our head trainer Charles, was trained by the fantastic Jess Schuring, owner of Heartcore fitness. He then proceeded to work in various London studios. Through a decade of such work, he developed what is now the FBP method.
  • Of the many definition of Pilates, we choose the following: Pilates is about creating efficient and graceful movement, enhancing posture through increasing strength, balance and flexibility.
  • Our patron principle is flow. Flow as in the quality of uninterrupted movement, flow in transitioning from one exercise to another, and in the routine.
  • We believe in fun yet challenging classes that abide by all the Pilates principles. We do not limit ourselves to the classical repertoire, but all exercises must fit with the spirit. We encourage creativity but always consider how your ideas gel with the core tenets.
What you can expect from Flowing Body Pilates
We don’t believe in having people work just for a pay check. We want people to join in our journey and we want to join in theirs. This is key to all our associations.
  • We will treat you with respect always.
  • We believe in continuous improvements and will offer feedback and suggestions from time to time. These will always be honest but only because we want to help you become your best self.
  • You can participate in classes for free provide there is a space and we highly encourage you to.
  • We regularly review instructor performance through class visits, client feedback, and retention metrics. When performance is strong and economic conditions allow, we adjust pay accordingly. Our philosophy is simple: a rising tide should lift all ships.
  • We have an open-door policy to suggestions and feedback. Always feel free to come to us with concerns/ideas and we shall do our best to address the matters presented.
  • We understand you may have other plans and we might be able to help. Please share your dreams and aspirations with us. You are helping us make our dream and vision a reality and we would like to do the same.
What we expect from you
  • To think of Flowing Body Pilates as a family
  • To have a good sense of responsibility. We do not look over people’s shoulders. We rarely decline a cover. We just assume our associates will do what they ought to do. With this freedom comes a responsibility to be self accountable. Failure to do so would break the trust.
  • To be professional. You should take care of your duties with pride and a high standard.
  • To be friendly. Get to know your clients and their interests. Provide high energy classes.
  • To be an ambassador to the brand. You are the first point of contact and what you do and say reflect massively on the studio for good or bad. Be cheerful
Studio care
Please use care when using the reformer machines so we can keep them running well! These are at the heart of our operations and a reformer breakdown really affects the viability of the studio. If you need additional training on how to use the reformers/move the footbar, please ask. I will be happy to take some time and coach you through it all. If you notice any damage or malfunctioning of a reformer, you are expected to contact the studio manager/Charles as soon as you can.
We are a small studio, so we appreciate everyone doing a little bit to help keep the studio tidy and the operation running smoothly.
Commitment to excellence
"What doesn't move dies, we therefore cannot stand still".
The number one quality of living organism is growth and we should aspire to that in all aspects of our lives.
As teachers we should be the number one student of health & fitness in general, and of Pilates in particular.
We therefore greatly encourage our teachers to partake in activities that will allow them to improve their skills. We welcome you to attend classes at our studios free of charge ( provided there is a free space ). We even encourage you to try other studios and even other disciplines like Yoga and dance. Seek activities that will challenge you and help you grow.
